At Devoted Labradoodles we made the decision to place the majority of our breeding dogs in guardian homes so that they can receive a forever home family that is able to give the proper attention and love that they most definitely deserve. If your application is approved to participate in guardianship, you will be getting one of the best dogs we have to offer at an incredibly discounted rate, in exchange for your assistance throughout the breeding lifetime of the dog.
Being a guardian home for our breeding program has many perks, as well as responsibilities. We strive for a mutually beneficial relationship between ourselves and our guardian families! Guardian homes will pay for normal pet ownership costs such as vet costs and treatments unrelated to breeding, premium dog food, dog training, pet supplies and grooming.
Perks
- The cost of guardianship is $750, only $250 more after the $500 deposit, a discount of $1750 with future monetary perks.
- The genetic and coat and disposition "picks" of the litter!
- We extend the offer to pet sit at our home when the guardian family goes out of town and needs to have the dog boarded. This helps us, the guardian dog, and our dogs, to be familiar with one another when it comes time to breed or whelp a litter.
- For each litter produced, the guardian family is compensated ($500 for females and $250 for males) as a "thank you" for their patience while their beloved pet is away.
- We cover all breeding related expenses.
- When the dog has fulfilled the breeding period with Devoted Labradoodles, we will have them spayed or neutered at our cost, and full ownership will be transferred to the guardian family!
Requirements and Responsibilities
General expectations:
- Guardians must provide a safe and loving home, ensuring plenty of play time and socialization, as well as healthy exercise in a fenced in area or on a leash.
- Guardian families must own their own home. We don't want to run into landlord issues with pets.
- Guardian families must live within 1.5 hours of our home in Naples, Florida, or cover the cost/time of travel if further away. Guardian agrees to maintain this contract even if they relocate out of the area, including flying the dog back to the breeder at the expense of the guardian.
- Guardians ensure to raise a well behaved dog, ie: training the dog with basic commands, keeping the dog clean and well groomed.
- Feed the dog with a Devoted Labradoodles approved high quality diet.
- If guardian family goes on vacation or out of town for any reason and dog is not sent to breeder's home for duration of the vacation, contact information for kennel and/or pet-sitter should be given to breeder before guardian family departs.
Guardians must provide the dog with basic veterinary care, including but not limited to:
- Yearly wellness visits and routine vaccines (Breeder will pay all veterinary costs associated with breeding purposes)
- Any medical issues the dog may have which are NOT related to breeding
- Emergency vet costs (NOT related to breeding)
- Keeping dog on monthly, year-round preventative medications against heart-worms, fleas and ticks.
Breeding expectations for female dogs:
- Notify us immediately when the female dog comes into each heat.

- Keep all unapproved intact male dogs away from her when she is in season.
- Once bred she will stay at her guardian home until one week before delivery. She will return to us at this time to get settled before she delivers her puppies. She will stay at our home until the puppies are fully weaned, which will be between six and eight weeks post delivery.
- Our female dogs may begin their breeding careers after their first two normal heat cycles, and retire from their breeding careers after a maximum of four litters or age five.
- Guardians have no legal rights to the breeding interests of the dog.
Breeding expectations for male dogs:
- Be prepared for the dog to have small windows of time away from home. These times for breeding ties with a chosen female will be scheduled in advance.
- There may be reproductive vet appointments or meetings that the guardian should be prepared to meet us for upon request.
- Keep all unapproved females in heat away from him.
- Our male dogs may begin their breeding career after their first birthday, and retire from their breeding careers by age seven.
